JEFFERSON COUNTY INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT CARD
Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) assesses the conditions and needs of the country's infrastructure. The categories include Water and Environment, Transportation, Public Facilities (including schools), and Energy. ASCE's point of view is that "...without prioritizing our nation's infrastructure needs, deteriorating conditions can become a drag on the economy." The assessment takes into account public safety, environmental protection, and a sustainable future.
In the 2013 Infrastructure Report Card, the nation's cumulative grade rose to D+. States were also graded; Colorado received a C+. We will be reviewing the ASCE's report regarding where the nation and Colorado stand on those particular parameters most applicable to Jefferson County. The committee has tried to provide as much information as possible pertinent to our county, but there is no one location like the report card available. The information is provided to start a discussion of where we may want to take action to help guarantee safe, economically and environmentally sustainable future infrastructure conditions.
The Every Member Material (EMM)
