Lakewood/Golden Holiday Donation Drive Unit Meeting
Our next meeting is December 15th at 9:15 at the Lakewood Library (not Belmar!) We decided that we would like to collect needed items for the Action Center at the meeting and I will deliver them. Always needed are individually wrapped toiletries - soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shavers, etc. Also a constant demand for peanut butter, pasta, tuna and chicken in cans with pop tops, spaghetti sauce. Also a continuous need for socks of all sizes! We can take cash donations over as well.
Here is the summary of the November 10th, Unit Meeting:
We had 9 members attend.
We discussed our Voter Service activities and our conclusions were:
a. schedule Colorado School of Mines early; their process is cumbersome;
b. outreach at Red Rocks was dynamic and there was lots of interest - people coming up to us;
c. The Action Center set up, greeting folks as they drive through, was highly effective and we reached a lot of people that way! 70+ people in one two hour shift;
d. Impromptu voter service done by individuals is also effective - liquor stores, coffee shops, college student centers are all places where we can engage people.
We are happy with the 72% turnout reported by Jeffco so far. Happy there was a large Gen Z turnout. Always work to be done.
Stay tuned for Observer Corp training.
