Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country
by Pam Houston

Owner of a 120-acre ranch near Creede, Houston’s personal story is very much about her love for land and life and her concern that people (climate change) are killing it and us. Toward the end of the book she asks: "How do I find hope on a dying planet, and if there is no hope to be found, how do I live in its absence?” Someone called it a "hymn to the world”, “a love letter to the earth, animals, and the best of humanity.” Published in 2019, and 288 pages, this is our final book club book until September, 2023.

Please join us Wednesday, May 17 at 1 pm for an in-person session!  A new venue, Solana Lakewood, has been offered to us and we need your help in evaluating it. Details will be furnished a day or so prior to our meeting to those who have registered. Every reader of the book, club member or not, is welcome to join our discussion session. Please register via the tab to the right.

Check the LWV website in a month or so for our 2023-2024 Schedule and for the Supplementary Reading Challenge, a compilation of all book suggestions that didn’t make it into our forthcoming schedule. A list of all the books the club has read since inception, is available to download on the Book Club page of this website.  Go to "Get Involved" on the top blue bar, then scroll to Book Club.
